Eastern High Performance Program Weather Updates

Update #6 - 3:20 PM - Sunday, January 22

Tonight’s sessions at the Techniplex are GOING AHEAD as per the schedule. As a reminder, the schedule is as follows:

• 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - 13U and 16U/21U
• 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM - 17U/18U

Thanks for you cooperation and patience over the weekend - it is much appreciated.

 

Update #5 - 9:08 AM - Sunday, January 22

The 15U session scheduled for 11 AM WILL BE GOING AHEAD as scheduled at 11 AM.

PSA will be opened at 10:30 AM and anyone that is early is welcome to head into the facility. The session will not begin until 11 AM as scheduled and will conclude at 1:00 PM (not 12:30 PM)

Any potential catchers are asked to bring their gear with them, as well.

If you cannot make the session due to the weather/cleanup/road conditions/travel in your area, that is more than understandable.

 

Update #4 - 7:00 AM - Sunday, January 22

Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the 9 AM - 10:30 AM 14U session for Sunday morning.

Once again ensuring safety is our top priority - given the road conditions around Metro, anticipated road conditions outside Metro (for those that need to travel), as well as significant cleanup efforts that need to take place, we feel this is the best decision to make at this time.

A decision on the 15U session scheduled for 11 AM will be made at approximately 9 AM.

 

Update #3 - 10:30 AM - Saturday, January 21

Unfortunately, we will be cancelling ALL REMAINING SESSIONS for today (Saturday, Jan 21).

We feel as though this is the best decision for everyone involved, and with the snow slowly starting to pickup it will only continue to get worse as the day progresses.

Regarding Sunday sessions - the plan as of now is to run all sessions if we can, but we likely will not have a definitive answer until tomorrow morning. There are a number of factors to take into account on our end:

• The overall weather in the morning;
• how much snow falls today/tonight/overnight;
• if facilities are open (a reminder there are sessions at PSA in the morning and the Techniplex in the evening so we have two facilities to check with);
• other cancellations/closures/delays around the Metro area;
• if we have enough coaches/instructors/volunteers in a position to get to the facilities in time to start the session (given everyone will have to clear varying amounts of significant snow depending on how much they got).

Our communication plan for tomorrow will be much the same as it was today - an early-morning update with continued updates as needed/required.

Thanks again to everyone for their cooperation and understanding; especially to players/parents/coaches that may have travelled from Central or West regions to participate.

 

Update #2 - 9:00 AM - Saturday, January 21

The 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM 15U session has been cancelled.

While there has been no real change weather-wise, cancellations and closures are continuing to pop-up this morning. We want to give adequate time and notice for everyone to get themselves to PSA, which includes cleanup and travel. Safety for everyone remains our top priority, which for us includes the moment you leave home until the moment you get home after your session.

We will make another update around 11 AM for afternoon sessions.

Update #1 - 6:52 AM - Saturday, January 21
Due to the impending weather, the 13U session from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM has been cancelled.

Safety is our top priority and, while the weather at the this time is not snowing, this is temporary and when the snow resumes, it runs a significant risk of being dangerous for players/parents/coaches/volunteers to be out in those driving conditions.

We will update later this morning with regard to other sessions.

NOTE - there will be multiple updates throughout the day and cancellations may take place in blocks rather than cancelling the entire day at once.
