Please SAVE THE DATE of November 15th - 17th for the 2024 Baseball NL Annual General Meeting weekend, once again to be held in Gander at Sinbads Hotel.
As has been the practice the last number of years, there will be workshop sessions all day Saturday on our various provincial programming areas, followed by the Annual Awards and Reception on Saturday night, with the AGM scheduled for Sunday morning.
As part of the AGM, Baseball NL will be proposing a new constitution that has been crafted after discussion at the 2023 AGM around a constitutional review. This review considered a number of factors, and consulted a number of PSO and NSO constitutions as guiding documents when putting together the final document. This document can be found below
Joining us in Gander this year will be Baseball Canada CEO Jason Dickson. Jason will be a full participant in our weekend, learning the ins and outs of baseball in Newfoundland and Labrador, while also offering insights into baseball across the country. This is a great learning opportunity for everyone and I would encourage everyone to attend and bring as many people from your association as possible/feasible with you to learn from Jason’s vast and in-depth knowledge.
Jason has enjoyed a distinguished professional career, working for the YMCA in New Brunswick before joining Baseball Canada, first as their President in 2016 before transitioning to his current role as CEO in 2021. On the baseball field, Jason is a former professional baseball player, having played for the California/Anaheim Angels from 1996 - 2000 and was named an MLB All Star in 1997. Jason has represented Canada at the 1991 World Junior Baseball Championships, winning a gold medal with Team Canada, and has also represented Canada at the Olympic level during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Jason is the recipient of the 1997 Tip O’Neill Award, presented to a Canadian baseball player who is “judged to have excelled in individual achievement and team contribution while adhering to the highest ideals of the game of baseball”.
To register for the AGM, please reach out to your local association.
